LIVEWINDOWS
THE PROJECT
LIVEWINDOWS (2010-2014) was a project conceived and developed by Alfio Pozzoni, research and innovation director of Fabrica between 2008 and 2013. LIVEWINDOWS is an experience design research project applied to storefront communication. The idea was to use technology to create in-store experiences that would define a new relationship between people and the brand. For this project, Fabrica invited prestigious universities and design schools from all over the world to collaborate.
MY ROLE

.Development of the visual communication guidelines of the project
.Development of video and interactive content for the LIVEWINDOWS digital platforms and research and development activities for digital broadcast platforms in terms of hardware and software
.Digital content management of the Milan and Almaty Kazakhstan stores
.Preparation of the palimpsests with content 24/7 monitoring of operation
.Contact with store managers to gather feedback and preparation of activities.

LIVEWINDOWS STORES NETWORK
Stores are the real meeting point between brands and people, so we set out to capture the public with a powerful and innovative audio-visual Benetton experience. Intelligent analysis of the store-front environment (traffic flow, traffic lights, daylight, proximity to subway stations)to understand public perception of the store Research on visual language and design, to create the right layout and specific content based on the chosen format. Monitoring the installation, to refine the playlist and generate evermore relevant, inspiring and interactive content.
Layout optimization, followed by creative, targeted use of audio, that both works in harmony and disrupts the environmental sound to catch attention. Almaty Barcelona Bologna London Milan Moscow New Delhi Paris Shanghai












LIVEWINDOWS CONTENT
This part of the research process focused on experimenting with new visual languages. There were different types of content: movie content, 3d content, motion graphics and interactive content The goal was to attract the attention of the passers-by with a clear message or positive experience. The developed language contains strong dynamics aimed at attracting the user’s attention on the street.

COMPUTER GRAPHICS
The 3D content gives the possibility to have a control on the color and on the dynamics of composition of the images inside the videowall.


INTERACTIVE APPLICATIONS
The design of the experience of digital applications in public spaces transmits the value of the brand through direct contact with passers-by.


LIVEWINDOWS SCHOOL NETWORK
LIVEWINDOWS created numerous collaborations with several prestigious design schools from around the world, including Elisava in Barcelona, Parson’s in Paris, and Hyper Island in Stockholm for the production of content. This allowed the digital installations around the world to be regularly updated with new animations, images and installations, giving a dynamic and fresh feeling to the LIVEWINDOWS monitors across the network.

LIVEWINDOWS TEAM
The LIVEWINDOWS team was based in Treviso at the Benetton research center, Fabrica. The creative director Alfio Pozzoni, coordinated a series of designers, researchers, project managers and freelance collaborators, based on the constant growth and development of the project Benetton’s.
LIVEWINDOWS project took one of the most important design awards for Digital Installations: Gold APEX Award in the Retail category at the Digital Signage Expo’s APEX Awards held on March 8th 2012 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
